Havering’s Leader of the Council, Councillor Ray Morgon hits back at the Conservative Leader.

Following a recent article in the Havering Daily by Havering Conservative Leader Councillor Keith Prince on the ongoing issue of Launders Lane, Councillor Ray Morgon today writes.

“I am very disappointed to see the new Leader of the opposition, Keith Prince, attacking this Administration on the handling of Launders Lane. This is one of several legacy issues that we have picked up from successive Conservative Administrations. They have ignored this serious issue because they were either not brave enough, or didn’t care enough, to deal with it.

“Local Ward Councillors will tell you that this Administration has done more in the past year, than previous Conservative Administration’s in the best part of two decades.

“I have been clear from day one that this issue would not be either quick or easy to resolve, but I am determined that we do so and have worked systematically over the past year to progress this issue.

“We have already spoken to Fiona Twycross, so I suggest that Keith engages with us rather than trying to score political points.

“What I have not heard from Keith is what he would do if he was Leader of the Council”.

In response, Councillor Prince told the Havering Daily:

“I have always offered to work with Ray and it’s disappointing that neither he nor The Mayor’s office involved me in the recent visit to my constituency.

“To be fair Fiona did let me know after the event and has agreed to a meeting.

“For me this is not about politics it’s about everyone pulling together to get the best outcome for the residents of Havering and that will only happen if we all work together.”
