Havering Volunteer Police Cadets to take on gruelling Cateran Yomp to raise money for soldiers.
On Thursday 1 June 20 Havering Volunteer Police cadets and 9 staff members will travel to Scotland to assist with a Charity Event run by the ABF The soldiers Charity called the Cateran Yom
The Cateran Yomp is the biggest, toughest event of its kind. Every year, hundreds of Yompers gather in the Scottish wilderness to battle through the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, walking continuously for 54, 36 or 22 miles over 24 hours. Based on an infamous long-distance military training march, it takes every ounce of grit you possess. And every single step helps the team’s mission: to be there for soldiers, for veterans, for their families. For life.
The Yomp takes courage, discipline, integrity and teamwork. It’s not easy and this really is an understatement.
Havering are the only ever Cadet unit to be asked to help with the running and this year they have special permission to enter a team.
Havering Volunteer Police Cadet Leader Anthony Kiddle told the Havering Daily:
“We have 4 cadets and 5 staff actually participating in the ultimate charity walk another first and we are hoping to raise £3000.
This will be my 6th event I have competed in.
My team of cadets are inspirational so we are looking forward to achieving their goal.”

Anthony and his cadets do an amazing job across Havering and London. This really is the ultimate challenge for them as they embark in a gruelling mission to raise money for our soldiers.
