Councillors joins Clarion Housing repairs initiative on Orchard Village.
Beam Park Labour Councillor Matthew Stanton took part in a Clarion Housing repairs initiative on the Orchard Village Estate on 17th of May. Clarion staff helped residents raise repair orders, whilst tradespeople assessed repairs and carried out some repairs there and then.
Councillor Stanton also had a close encounter with one of the hawks Clarion’s pest control company has been using on the estate to deter pigeons from nesting. He told the Havering Daily: “It’s been very encouraging to see so many residents coming out to engage with Clarion rather than suffer in silence. Cllr Trevor Mckeever and I have made Orchard Village one of our priorities over the past year, and Clarion acknowledge the scale of the issues that are faced here and are keen to make improvements.”
The Labour councillors have also prepared a letter which will be going out to all Orchard Village residents advising them of the options they have when working with Clarion on repairs.
“We’ve been meeting frequently with Clarion on a range of issues, from cladding works to anti-social behaviour,” said Councillor Trevor Mckeever.”
“Whilst we aren’t trying to pretend that everything is perfect now, residents are seeing changes on the estate. They’ve also been coming forward about anti-social and criminal behaviour, helping our police take action and helping Clarion manage problem tenants. Our objective is to make Orchard Village a great place to live, well looked after by both Clarion and residents.”
