Schools in Havering are being celebrated after achieving a “good” or “outstanding” Ofsted rating.

To mark their achievements, the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Trevor McKeever, has given the latest recipients a commendation and expressed his thanks to staff for their dedication and hard work.

Between September 2022 and March 2023, 14 schools were given a “good” or “outstanding” rating by Ofsted, which means that nearly every school in the borough is now rated “good” or “outstanding”.

During the presentation at Havering Town Hall, the Mayor spoke of himself being educated in the borough.

He said: “I’m a product of Havering education and excelled when I went to Havering Technical College, as it was then.”

He added: “Havering education has been good for me and without it I would not be sitting where I am today. So to all the teachers of the past and teachers of the present I would like to thank you very much for all you do.”

The schools received a signed certificate and an invitation to bring their pupils to visit the Mayor and the Council chambers.
