Shoppers Donate Over 400 Easter Eggs To Elderly People Across Havering.

The Mercury Mall brings joy to residents in care homes across Havering.

More than 400 chocolate eggs have been donated to elderly residents in Havering. The Mercury bought joy to the residents of Portland Close, Ravenscourt Nursing Home, Emerson Court Care Home, Beech Court, Barley Croft and Romford Care Home. The Mercury has been asking shoppers to buy an extra chocolate egg to donate to it’s annual Easter appeal. Locals have been dropping their donations into the giant Egg Pod outside the help desk over the past few weeks. Retailers including Asda have also donated to the appeal. 

Centre manager Spencer Hawken told the Havering Daily:“We are always amazed just how generous people can be, even more so during these testing times. The appeal has been running since 2005 and the number of eggs donated continues to rise, thanks to the generous support of shoppers and The Mercury’s retailers.

“Egg giving is synonymous with Easter and Easter eggs are enjoyed by all ages – not just the young but the young at heart too.”

Kelly from Ravenscourt Nursing Home said: “It’s really refreshing so thank you and our residents really appreciate it.”
