Ice-T-21 is not just a well known rapper and social media influencer with millions of followers, he is also a rapper with an important anti knife crime message prepared to stand up and support his community battle against the horrors of knife crime.

The Havering Daily had the opportunity to meet Ice T yesterday as he tours Europe.

“I make sure that I do not rap about anything I do not know about. It is important to me that I know what I am rapping about and sadly I know about knife crime and mental health issues.”

Ice T is a very open speaker who shares his genuine concerns for youths on our streets today having been there himself. “I was a gang leader, I know how easy it is for peer pressure to make that big impact on you.

“My sister was recently involved in a knife crime incident in Nottingham. She was at her local college when it was put on lock down due to a stabbing. I spoke with her throughout the incident to try and keep her calm as she suffers with anxiety. I can see the horrendous impacts knife crime is having on our youths. Sadly I have been there and have also suffered with mental health problems.

“We must work together as a community to help stop this.”

Ice T began rapping five years ago when he was working in a store in Vienna.

“I knew I had to rap about something I had experienced and was important to me, so I went back to a dark place when I had been bullied and how bad that made me feel and that is how my rapping career began.”

Now, Ice T raps about, bullying, knife crime, mental health problems but no violence.

“I was very lucky to leave that gang life behind me and have the support of my family. But I know how hard it can be and how it can take hold of your life.

“I am urging our youth to please not get involved in gang life, and not to carry a knife as it really is the end of your life.”

Ice T is based is Romford and Nottingham and is keen to support his local communities as much as he can to tackle to knife crime epidemic.

“We must all add our voices together and I am happy to come and rap and support all the bereaved parents and anti knife crime campaigners.”

Thank you to Ice T for adding his much needed voice to support the battle against knife crime, he has stepped up to the mark to support the community and make his voice heard where it is desperately needed. He will now be working with bereaved parents across the area to add his support to the incredible work they are doing.

Ice-T-21, a real community hero.
