Beam Park Councillors Tackle Road Safety At New Road A1306 Junction.

Beam Park Ward Labour Councillors, Matt Stanton and Trevor McKeever, have stepped up their road safety campaign to bring about improvements to the junction of Maiden Way and New Road (A1306). The new housing development at Knightswood Place close to the Dovers Corner roundabout at Rainham, is accessed through Maiden Way, but the junction layout has been criticised by local residents.

The narrowness of the junction entrance has caused several accident near misses and local residents contacted Councillors McKeever and Stanton in an effort to get some improvements put in place. The two Labour Councillors met with Havering Council Highways team to bring the problem to their attention and to call upon the Council to liaise with the developer of Knightswood Place, Persimmon.

Councillor Trevor McKeever told the Havering Daily: “’While we understand that Persimmon and Havering have worked jointly on the plans for the junction, nevertheless we are unwilling to accept any compromise on the safety of our residents, particularly when there is only one way in and out of the estate.”
