The Romford MP Andrew Rosindell has written to the Transport Secretary Mark Harper MP to express his grave concerns regarding the proposed ULEZ expansion that is due to commence across Havering in August this year.

Mr Rosindell is standing with the many constituents across Romford who will be impacted by this expansion.

Mr Rosindell today writes in the Havering Daily:

Mayor Khan’s radical expansion of the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone is nothing more than a political stunt. We need no clearer evidence than this to know that he does not have any intention to promote and improve the lives of those living in outer-Greater London, let alone Romford.

At a time when working Briton’s are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, this will be yet another brutal blow to the taxpayer and will cost us millions. Furthermore, the scrappage scheme, which, in theory, should be assisting the deprived in Greater London receive the necessary means to replace their vehicles, in fact does very little and few are eligible.

Whilst the wealthy areas of London will have no issue adapting to the change, the disadvantaged driving affordable second-hand cars, will be the ones to pay. Clearly, Mayor Khan hopes that by charging drivers a £12.50 a day, his own insolvency of Transport for London will magically disappear. Considering this, I do not understand how, in its current state, Mayor Khan expects TFL to adequately service the incomparable needs of the people of Havering, and other boroughs closer to the M25.

In light of this, I will be working with Transport Secretary, The Rt. Hon. Mark Harper M.P., local London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, Keith Prince A.M., and a multitude of my parliamentary colleagues across Havering and Greater London to overturn the U.L.E.Z. expansion. I have written to the Mayor of London himself outlining my disapproval, and have also contacted the Prime Minister on two occasions, calling upon him to intervene.

The expansion of U.L.E.Z. is yet another undeserved cash grab forced upon the hard-working people of outer-Greater London, to fund inner-Greater London and divert attention away from the complete ineptitude of Mayor Khan’s office since his appointment in 2016.

Rather than centralising power, it should be up to local authorities to have the final say on the implementation of low emissions schemes such as U.L.E.Z.

Something must be done to stop Khan causing devastation to the lives of so many in Havering!”

*Mayor Khan’s radical expansion of the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone is nothing more than a political stunt*
Presumably Boris Johnson who introduced ULEZ in the first place was also doing it as a *stunt*? I have to say that I’m surprised that Andrew Rosindell, who lives in a ULEZ zone, is against a Public Health policy, which has been developed over many years by Conservatives.
The only *stunt* going on is shameless Conservatives playing God with people’s lives. And what makes it worse is that they know that they are deliberately using dis-information to score a political point.
