Why parents resort to buying their children stab proof clothing as knife crime spreads across the entire capital.
Havering residents are once again waking up to another stabbing. This time a multiple stabbing as three teenagers aged 15, 16, and 17 years were stabbed at a food venue on South Street, Romford yesterday at 5.38pm.
Last week we saw two stabbing incidents in Hornchurch, including a student being stabbed just before 11 am on Ardleigh Green Road.
What has saddened residents is that this is a multiple stabbing with a child as young as 15 stabbed.
Parents are horrified, but sadly now used to it. They are actually so used to knife crime that they are buying their teenagers stab proof clothing to protect their children.
Parents of 14 year old boys are reaching out to anti knife crime campaigners to ask where to buy stab proof vests, this is how bad our streets have become.
Bereaved parents and anti knife crime campaigners battle daily, endlessly and tirelessly to stop teenagers using knives.
Police officers work with the community and schools everyday to warn teenagers of the horrors of knife crime. They are the first on scene and deal with these incidents all the time.
But this is a lone battle being fought by campaigners and police officers and no one else.
Despite the many, many protests bereaved parents have undertaken across City Hall and Parliament, no one is prepared to acknowledge these horrors.
These parents are tired of fighting every day to make their voices heard, handing out bleed kits, talking to teenagers, doing everything they can to stop other families suffering what they do every second of the day after losing their child.
These families are broken- their lives will never be the same again.
“Don’t let knife crime knock on your door, if it does it will be too late”, finished a bereaved mother.
