The fantastic community cafe the Ship has launched a free meal scheme every Tuesday starting at 3pm. The Rainham cafe is a great community hub that not only serves incredible home made cooking with cakes by Marilyn that can easily rival Mary Berry herself! But it is also a place for the community to go and sit down and have a friendly chat with locals.

Local ward Councillor Jackie McArdle has joined forces with Shirley from the cafe to offer this scheme once a week to help locals in the area.

“We are offering a free meal for parents and their children to pop in after school, have a nice warm meal and a chat with people here. Or anyone that would like a free hot dinner and a bit of company,” Jackie told the Havering Daily.

The Ship is a key place in the Rainham community and provides incredible support for many people across the borough.

Well done to all the ladies involved in getting another fantastic scheme off the ground to help their community.
