Five youths arrested as two firearms and knives removed following an incident in Goodmayes.
Five males have been arrested after a group of youths were seen in possession of knives and a firearm in the Grove Retail Park in Goodmayes yesterday evening.
Following a call from a member of the public, officers, including armed officers, responded quickly and were able to locate the group matching the description provided, in a fast food restaurant and kept them under observation.
Just after 7pm, one of the group inside the restaurant was seen to leave and was challenged by armed officers. A firearm was recovered and he was arrested by officers.
Acting on information provided that the group inside the restaurant had been seen with a second firearm, armed officers entered the premises and challenged the group.
A second firearm was recovered.
One of the males was tasered but did not need medical treatment. There were no injuries to members of the public.
Well done to our officers for their swift intervention removing two lethal weapons off our streets.
