Successful Op Yamhill targets violent crime and anti social behaviour across Havering.
On Wednesday 8 February, officers from east area East Neighbourhood strand, in partnership with London Borough Havering Council took part in Operation Yamhill.
This was a joint operation led by Sergeant Jayshree Patel, focusing on the reduction of violent crime and anti-social behaviour in identified hotspot areas across the borough.
A number of weapon sweeps were conducted in these areas, including St Andrews Park, Upminster Park, Hyland Park, rear of Harold Hill library, rear of all the shops at Farnham Road, commercial bins and the car park all off East Dene Drive.
Officers were deployed to Havering Sixth Form due to complaints received of Anti-social behaviour.
Officers conducted reassurance patrols in the area, as well as carrying out a number of stop and searches. Local businesses were also spoken to by officers and given relevant crime prevention advice.
Officers also targeted local train lines, including Elm Park, Upminster and Romford train stations, conducting high visibility patrols in and around the station.
Extra officers were deployed into Romford and Hornchurch Town centre, plus Farnham Road to increase police presence and assist in deterring crime.
A/Superintendent Lisa Butterfield told the Havering Daily:“Anti-Social behaviour is committed by a small minority of people but it can have a damaging impact on residents, communities, local businesses and visitors to our Borough, well done to all involved in this Operation”.
Yamhill is an ongoing operation that is using a wide range of Policing and Council enforcement tactics focussing on reducing violent crime and anti-social behaviour. Results included;

11 Community Resolution for Cannabis
3 PND for Cannabis
1 PND for Shoplifting
2 TOR – Processed for driving offences
2 Arrests for Burglary
