The Sound of Music comes to the Brookside Theatre.

When Maria, a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as Governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, captures the heart of the stern Captain. However, this is a turbulent time and Austria has recently been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy. The family’s narrow escape over the mountains on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and dramatic finales ever presented.
This lavish and unforgettable new production tells the remarkable true story of the von Trapp family and works its magic once again on audiences young and old alike. With its unforgettable score that includes some of the most memorable songs ever written including ‘So Long Farewell’, ‘My Favourite Things’, ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘Edelweiss’, ‘Climb Every Mountain’ and of course the glorious title song ‘The Sound Of Music’, this is the perfect family treat, not to be missed!
The production will be staged as part of the RH80 celebrations, commemorating 80 years since the partnership of Rodgers & Hammerstein was first announced – a partnership that redefined musical theatre.
