The Mercury to host animal support groups this Saturday.

Well done to the Mercury in Romford who are hosting a fantastic animal event this week to help find new loving homes for many animals in need and raise much needed funds for them on Saturday 28 January.

The very popular shopping mall in the heart of Romford is welcoming local animal support groups,Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary, Scruffy’sAngels Lost & Found and RGOA to highlight the help and support that’s available to pet owners and also animals that are potentially looking for new homes.

The Mercury is grateful to the customers that leave animal donations at the help desk and in Wilko Romford daily on behalf of Wanderers Haven. Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary was founded in 1961 by Mrs Geraldine Wagstaff in her family home in Ramsgate, Kent. The Sanctuary has been at its current location in Cranham, Essex since July 1976. They rescue all animals ranging from horses, ponies, goats, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens, cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and birds.

Scruffy’s help lost and found Cats & Kittens in the Dagenham and the surrounding areas. Set up in 2017, Scruffy’s Angels scour Havering and Barking and Dagenham, reuniting owners with lost loved ones, saving strays, and finding new homes for neglected cats and dogs. 

The RGOA help rehome retired racing greyhounds and have been doing so since 1975. Over the years they have helped find loving homes for more than 2000 of these regal dogs. Now they have lots of hounds waiting for their forever homes, pop in on Saturday 28th and see if a Greyhound is right for you!
