VIDEO:’Romford must retain its character’-Councillor happy that planning application is rejected.
St Alban’s ward Councillor Judith Holt has once again stressed how important it is that Romford retain its history and character after a planning application was rejected.
The application was submitted last year for a block of flats on Victoria Road, where there currently are two very successful shops.
Twins and Wet Pets are two specialist stores that have been at the Romford location for many years and the building of the flats, would see the shops have to be relocated.
Councillor Holt started a petition last year supporting shop owners and their customers and objecting to the building of more flats in Romford.
Councillor Holt told the Havering Daily: “This is good news for the store owners and for Romford. It is important that we preserve our history and character here.”
The planning application was rejected at a meeting last week by cabinet members.
