VIDEO: Rainham bus fire investigated by police and supported by TfL.
On Friday January 6 a fire broke out on a 165 bus on Viking Way in Rainham. The incident happened just after midnight as onlookers watched in shock at the site of a bus completely ablaze.
Fortunately there were no passengers on the bus when the fire was discovered by the driver who was also unharmed and bravely called the fire brigade.
The bus stop next to the Rainham Tesco has also suffered substantial damages from the fire and now needs to be replaced.
A temporary bus stop has been set up whilst these repairs are taking place.
Tom Cunnington, TfL’s Head of Bus Business Development, told the Havering Daily: “We are thankful that no was injured after a fire on a bus in Havering, though this must have been a frightening incident for the driver, who alerted the fire brigade. We are supporting the police and operator’s investigation into what happened.”
