On Saturday January 7, special celebrations were held at the Harold Hill Community Centre. These celebrations were hosted by residents of Shepherds Hill and Phillida Road in honour of their postman Derek who retired after 37 years of bringing his community their mail.

The much loved postman was at the event with his wife Lynn and received £700 collected by locals and a special gift.

Shepherds Hill resident Lisa told the Havering Daily: “Derek is very well respected by all the community and very much loved. He is always smiling and really is a ‘first class’ post man. He will be missed.”

Saying thank you and goodbye to Derek, a much loved postman.
