A Chigwell restaurant popular with stars from The Only Way is Essex, has had its licence appeal dismissed at Romford Magistrates’ Court.

The Melin Restaurant in Woodford Green previously had its licence removed for breaking the Covid 19 lockdown rules that were then in place. The restaurant had numerous parties in 2020 and after the intervention of Redbridge Council who held a review and the police, its licence was then removed.

On 20th December 2022 at Romford Magistrates’ Court, Melin Restaurant’s appeal was dismissed against revocation of their premises licence. The venue can no longer sell alcohol at any time, sell hot food between 11pm and 5am, or offer any regulated entertainment between 11pm and 8am. Regulated entertainment includes the playing of recorded music, the performance of live music and the performance of dance.
