Havering withdraws its New Year’s Day parade entry.
Havering’s Mayor and Beam Park Ward Councillor Trevor McKeever today writes in the Havering Daily.
It is with heavy heart that I have to announce that Havering has had to withdraw its entry to the New Year’s Day Parade in London.
Despite Titanic efforts to overcome some earlier issues, the show has finally succumb to Covid sadly.
The show’s musical director and choreographer contracted Covid, which meant that over twenty hours of rehearsal time was lost, so after discussions with the committee and a full appraisal, I had no option but make the decision to withdraw Havering’s entry into the parade.
The withdrawal from this event has been one of the hardest decisions I have had to make as this was an opportunity to gain funds for my chosen causes and showcase the great borough that we are, but it was not meant to be.
I would like to thank all or sponsors that came forward to support us and continue to do so.
If you would like to support the Mayor’s charitable organisations, you can do so by contacting, mayor@havering .gov.uk and details will be provided. The Mayor’s charitable organisations are, the Mardyke Community centre and PTSD 999 (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
