‘It is deeply concerning that the station is being held up’-Leader of the Council writes to Secretary of State for Transport addressing Beam Park station.
Councillor Ray Morgon Leader of Havering Council has written to Mark Harper MP the Secretary of State for Transport in regards to Beam Park station. The failure in having this station built has meant thousands of properties in the area have not been built and what should have been a thriving area, is instead vacant in many parts.
Councillor Morgon has stated in his letter that ‘over 5,000 new homes across three development sites depend on the opening of the station to become viable.
He also goes on to inform Mr Harper that ‘the area is currently extremely difficult to navigate on foot, by bicycle or in a motor vehicle. The residents of 4,600 existing homes cannot at present reasonably get to the existing c2c stations at Rainham and Dagenham Dock to travel intro central London for work.’
The issue of Beam Park station and its failure of being built has been a huge source of concern for Havering and is being addressed by Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas as well as the Leader of the Council. Many property developers stopped building their properties when the future of the station became in jeopardy last year. Now, many of those properties simply lie half built, leaving the area looking extremely unsightly for local residents.
