Thanks to a dedicated local policing team a Block Closure Notice Order is issued for nightmare Dagenham Terrace.
Following months of hard work by the local policing team in Dagenham, a court has issued a Block Closure Notice Order for Millard Terrace. The area has been plagued by anti social behaviour that has made residents lives living nearby a total nightmare.
A/Inspector Azam the Barking and Dagenham Neighbourhood Policing Inspector and his neighbourhood team, Police Sergeant Everett, PC Johnson, PC Jess and PC Corbeij were successful with the Block Closure Notice for Millard Terrace, issued at Barkingside Magistrates Court.
Police worked with local residents on a problem which has been an ongoing issue the last twelve months, with a considerable increase in the last six weeks. Residents felt unsafe walking to and from their own homes, which had a huge impact on the quality of their lives. Residents of Millard Terrace told police about non-residents loitering, excrement and other bodily fluids on the floor, rough sleepers, drug use and paraphernalia and sexual activity in the communal areas and stairwells.
This Order is the first one of its kind on the Borough of Barking and Dagenham, which meant the team had to work extremely hard to provide an evidential package, supported by the Local authority to be heard at court.
The order runs from 16:00 hours on 14/12/2022 and expires at 16:00 13/03/2023. This order prohibits people from being in the communal areas of the block who do not reside or have any reason to be there.
A/Inspector Azam said: “We are extremely pleased to be able to work closely with local residents at Millard Terrace and secure this Block Closure Order. The Metropolitan Police are fully aware of the effects this kind of anti-social behaviour has on local residents. We will continue to work closely with the local authority and target those responsible and ensuring the Order is adhered to”
This is fantastic community work by our police officers who have done everything in their powers to put an end to these horrendous anti social behaviour issues that have made local residents lives a complete misery.
A person who without reasonable excuse remains on or enters premises in contravention of a Closure Order commits an offence under section 86 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, liable on summary conviction to imprisonment not exceeding 51 weeks and / or an unlimited fine.
