Beanie hats made by local knitting group to help the homeless.
The knitting group ‘Nimble Fingers’ have come together to make Beanie hats for a homeless hostel in Barking. The team of knitters have recently finished making items for the Critical Care Unit at Queen’s Hospital in Romford and were asked by local community champion Jon Gildersleeve if they now wanted to help the homeless during the winter months.
The Barking hostel is for single homeless people or those living on the streets of London.
Champion knitters Marilyn Wyatt and her ladies Kathleen and Joyce who are all local residents run the Nimble Fingers group from their local church hall on Eastern Avenue. Once again the group has risen to the challenge with their prolific knitting skills.
Homeless Hostel manager Paul Perry commented: “With the cold weather already here this was a lovely idea and made with love that will be appreciated by everyone, thank you.”
