Jon Cruddas, Labour MP for Dagenham and Rainham, met with North East London NHS senior management last month to discuss their plans for GP and primary health care services across Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park. Mr Cruddas is concerned that the area has seen a contraction in local GP surgeries in recent times whilst housing development has continued at a large scale in the south of Havering.

Margaret Mullane, Labour’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Dagenham and Rainham, added:“Residents of Rainham, South Hornchurch and Elm Park see major housing schemes being built in their communities putting added pressure on GP and NHS services.

“I will be campaigning for improved local health care services and increased GP numbers. I have been told by a patient of the South Hornchurch Health Centre that there is currently a 29 day wait for a doctor’s appointment. This is not good enough and not what we expect from our health service.”
