The Mardyke Community centre in Beam Park ward held its annual Christmas light switch on Friday 25th November to provide a festive spirit for all the locals.

The evening saw special guest appearances from the Mayor of Havering and some Elftastic Elves who switched on the Christmas tree lights together. Newtons Primary school choir also sang Christmas carols at the event.

Centre manager Lesley Blowers told the Havering Daily: “I am so pleased with how great the evening was. Seeing the community come together to celebrate this magical Christmas moment was amazing. I would like to say thank you to everyone who came to the event, our sponsors, Newtons Primary School Choir, The Elftasic Elves, and all the centre staff and volunteers.”
