Another weekend of stabbings across London-but will anyone care?
London has once again seen a weekend of violence with stabbings taking place in Romford, two in Ilford, Homerton,Peckham and Twickenham. Despite being told our streets are safe and that violent crime has gone down, the unceasing high level of knife crime is still taking place on our streets.
We see bereaved mothers campaign each week donating bleed kits, make their voices heard to the best of their ability and yet the stabbings continue. Our police officers work hard via youth engagement officers and gangs officers, but as we all know, this is not an epidemic we can police our way out of.
Londoners are so used to hearing about stabbings or seeing social media videos of youths running across the streets of London with knives and machetes. In Romford on Friday (November 18) a man was chased across South Street by a group armed with a knife. Two stabbings took place on Loxford Lane in Ilford and then across a variety of areas in London.
For those calling for more police, the police themselves are calling for more police. The brutal cuts have had there consequences now clearly visible for all to see.
The need to start funding facilities across boroughs for our youth is vital. The need to have better mental health facilities for our youth is also vital. Better job opportunities for them is also an important measure that is needed to avoid the pull of county lines. A whole community approach is something that is needed alongside the need for those who should be making their voices heard, to finally step up and tackle this nightmare.

I have contacted the Met Commissioner and the Home Secretary about this but they just ignore my ideas. I think that after 23 years as a front- line officer I know what is needed to stop or drastically reduce these horrendous crimes.
