‘She had the ability to make everyone in her life feel special’. On Sunday 6 November Eileen McMurray sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. These are the moving words of her friend Sharon who stood by her friend throughout her long and difficult journey.

“Eileen would walk into a room and bring sunshine with her. She was the most generous, kind and caring person I have ever met and I’m so privileged that she was my friend,” said Sharon.

Eileen from Hornchurch was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2020 and needed an operation, but due to Covid no operations were taking place on the NHS so consequently looked to go fund this privately. However an operation such as the one Eileen required would have cost £20,000 and as a result, Eileen under went chemotherapy instead. A short while later things took a turn for the worse and the Hornchurch mum was rushed into hospital where an emergency operation to remove the cancer was done.

Eileen then began a slow journey back to recovery and gradually managed to get her life back.

Sadly this was short lived as Eileen’s diagnosis revealed the cancer had returned and sadly on the 6 November she lost her battle.

Now her friend Sharon not only wants to pay tribute to this amazing lady, but has also set up a go fund me to help Eileen’s four children have some much needed funds.

She continued: “Eileen’s husband has also passed away which means that the four children have no parents now and are left to navigate life without the guidance, support and financial security of their parents.

“The children have the responsibility of fending for themselves on a day to day basis and I along with all her friends would like to build a fund for them. The roof is already leaking and needs replacing, so to start we would like to take that responsibility from them.”

Sharon is also requesting that rather than lavish floral tributes sent, for people to buy a button gerbera so that the funeral is filled with colour.

She finished by paying tribute to her friend, “Rest in peace my beautiful girl. I will love you forever, until we meet again.”
