Donation boost for victims of July’s wildfires in Wennington Village and Farm Close Dagenham.

The fund for the victims of July’s devastating wildfires in Wennington Village and Farm Close Dagenham was this week boosted when Meta Platform Inc. (formerly Facebook) contacted Dagenham United Charity with a $1,000 donation.

The chairman of Dagenham United Charity, Peter Chand, together with Councillor Margaret Mullane, Councillor Trevor McKeever and Eileen Keller received the donation from Meta via Global Giving. Councillor Mullane told the Havering Daily: “It’s fantastic how communities come together at a time of great need”. Meta and Global Giving were touched by the distress and loss brought about by the wildfires and felt compelled to support residents and made a donation of $1000.

Jon Cruddas MP for Dagenham and Rainham told the Havering Daily: “The wildfires that ripped through Wennington Village and Farm Close Dagenham on 19 July destroyed 30 homes and uprooted the lives of families. Seeing the local community come together to give support is encouraging and will give some much needed comfort for those who have lost so much. This donation via Dagenham United Charity will undoubtedly provide more help.”
