The operation continues to be an ongoing multi agency series of events in partnership with the Council, which is run regularly in all three east area boroughs. Met Police Volunteers were also out and working alongside officers from Romford Town Safer Neighbourhood Teams, community engagement took place in South Street making residents/shopper aware of the ‘Safe Street’ website, which allows residents to tell police about public places where we have felt or feel unsafe.  They were also made very welcome at the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre where they engaged with over 300 attendees about tackling hate crime.  During a Weapons sweep in Kingsmead mansions, a large saw was located. Owner quickly located and words of advice provided. Weapon Sweep in Cottons Park provided negative results.

Further Weapon Sweeps were also conducted at Farringdon Avenue and Romford BR Station.  A bag containing bladed articles was recovered.  A stolen push bike was also recovered and returned to the owner.  Officers from Harold Wood, Heaton and GooshaysWard also held Roadshows within their areas.  Giving crime prevention advice and fitting purse chains.

Two visits with Ward Officers and the Drugs Dogs were completed at several Hostels within the Harold Hill area  – to help support the staff and deter any drug related concerns.  No Drugs were recovered at any of these venues.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said “These operations are important and great examples of the Council, police and other services working in partnership, to help towards reducing anti-social behaviour and crime. We all want to help our residents and visitors to the borough feel safer and we encourage them to continue to report crime and anti-social behaviour so we can all help to make our borough as safe as possible.”
