Fundraiser Kishan Majithia, 38, and the rest of his family paid a visit to Queen’s Hospital on Tuesday 18 October to hand over a cheque of over £6,000 to the Sunflower Suite team. Kishan raised the funds completing a cycle ride from London to Paris in August. He covered the distance of 281 miles over four days, cycling for approximately 8-10 hours each day.

Kishan was inspired to raise money for King George and Queen’s Hospitals Charity after his mother-in-law, Reetha Thakkar, 69, was treated for an aggressive form of breast cancer at Queen’s Hospital from December 2021 to June 2022.

Kishan brought along Reetha, his wife Manisha and his father-in-law Kishore to present the cheque.

He said: “I wanted to raise money for this amazing department as a thank you for their genuine care and support, for which we will be eternally grateful.”

“As a family we felt helpless when mum was ill, so I wanted to think of a way to try and give something back to help the team for all their help. I hope the funds can continue to support more people in their fight against cancer.”

Reetha added: “I am so grateful and appreciative of the whole of the Sunflower Suite team, they’re doing an amazing job, I give them 10 out of 10!”

Yagmur Kocak, Clinical Nurse Co-ordinator, said: “The Sunflower Suite team are extremely grateful and appreciate the immense effort by Kishan in raising over £6,000. The funds will be able to improve patient experiences in the Sunflower Suite.”

Well done to Kishan who has raised over £6K for the Sunshine Suite.
