Two men remanded in custody following Dartford Crossing disruption.
Following two days of chaos at the Dartford Crossing earlier in the week, two men have now been remanded in custody until November 17 awaiting trial, after having their bail refused.
Morgan Trowland from Islington and Marcus Decker of no fixed abode, were charged with committing a public nuisance on Wednesday 19 October after scaling the QEII bridge.
The pair went up the bridge in the early hours of Monday morning, causing chaotic scenes for motorists and ironically causing high levels of pollution as motorists sat in huge traffic jams for five hours waiting to get across. The nearby area was gridlocked for two days, with vehicles struggling to get by including emergency service vehicles.
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow from Essex Police said: “We cannot tolerate people carrying out activity which puts lives at risk and prevents people from going about their lives.
“I know this has been really frustrating for the public and the disruption has negatively impacted on businesses and meant people have been late, or missed appointments.
“Alongside our partners, we have worked hard to resolve this complex situation as quickly and safely as possible.”
