Meeting to take place on proposal to expand Rainham quarry.
A proposal to expand a quarry in Havering has been put forward by Brett Aggregates. The company has been working in Rainham for nearly 60 years quarrying at Ayletts Farm just off the troubled Launders Lane.
They are now stating that to maintain a local source of building materials, a new source at Rainham Lodge Farm will need to be established and residents believe a planning application will soon be submitted to the council.
Brett’s estimate that the new site will see 96 lorries a day travel to and fro the two sites.
Locals living near the area fear for the level of pollution, the impact it will have on our environment, the noise impact it will also have, as well as the impact on narrow roads.
A meeting is due to take place on October 28 at Suttons School in Hornchurch, 7pm.
This potential planning application would make a huge impact on our community as a whole. Launders Lane is already a troubled spot with ongoing fires, and very poor air quality. The addition of 96 lorries travelling on nearby roads each day would impact households and our community at large.
