‘The people of Havering are not fooled by the lazy moralising of these Conservatives who have mismanaged the finances of this country’-Councillor Matt Stanton.

Beam Park ward Councillor Matt Stanton today writes in the Havering Daily.

The Romford Conservatives have spent much of the last few days drip-feeding out their faux horror at the necessary cuts forced on the Council’s administration by an increased demand for statutory services and an imbalanced funding system.

Havering is not unique in its position with regards to the imbalance of funding, over 70% of our Council Tax revenue is going towards statutory Children’s and Adult’s Social Care. That means that by law we have to provide those services. They have to be, and are, our first priority.

The Conservative party is adept at playing the blame game, so after a dozen years of running the country and more running the council, having lost control of the Town Hall, they are now wasting no time pretending that they left the borough in a sound financial position, and are content to pass over the financial state of the country.

Where is their ‘by any means necessary’ determination now that they could direct it at fellow Tories? Where is the public outcry from Rosindell and Lopez at how their colleagues have defunded every institution of social value?

If they were genuinely concerned for the people of Havering, they would be trying to offer constructive alternatives to planned or mooted savings.

The population of Havering has traditionally been viewed as an elderly population, but in recent years this has been matched by a rapid rise in the amount of children – and corresponding increases in the amount of adults and children requiring care.

This is a problem that affects everyone in Havering, not just those receiving care. Because every time we have to make these savings to deliver the services we have to in law, it impacts every single resident.

The people of Havering are not fooled by the lazy moralising of these Conservatives, who have mismanaged the finances of this country for a dozen years, and a local party who has failed to adequately address their national counterparts ideological withdrawal from funding public services.

Both parties are to blame for the current economic and social issues facing the UK the UK needs an alternative to the tired old Liblabconsnpgreen the Social Democratic Party and Libertarian Party perhaps? A Starmer led Government would be as nightmarish as the current Government ,this councillor is naïve if He thinks His party isn’t partly to blame for the profigacy of Blair and Brown continued by the Conservatives

That article from the female labour member, I give up,
As if someone who’s held the working class in contempt for the past 6 years, knows what the working class thinks
