Havering Joint Taskforce-An extremely successful team of police officers determined to bring offenders to justice.
Havering Joint Task Force police officers have an outstanding record of success here in the borough. The team are funded by Havering Council and will continue to be so under the new administration, with the Council Leader, Councillor Ray Morgon even stating that he would like to increase the number of officers.
Neighbourhoods Chief Inspector Mr Nixon who actively engages with the Havering community, told the Havering Daily:
“Havering Joint Taskforce (HJTF) were formed in January 2020. They are a small team of 6 officers and extremely effective team in the fight against crime in Havering.
HJTF have had great success and this is down to skilful use of intelligence and a determination to bring offenders to justice.
The team are funded by Havering Council. They regularly run joint operations with Essex targeting stolen vehicles and burglary offenders.
Between January 2020 and end of August 2022 the team have arrested 598 suspects for a variety of offences including 109 burglary suspects, 61 suspects for theft or unauthorised taking of vehicles, 63 suspects for possessing offensive weapons/bladed articles and 93 suspects concerned in the supply or possession of drugs.
They use their stop and search powers to great effect having completed 1,228 searches with 526 of them having a positive outcome.
This means that 526 individuals were either arrested or received another criminal justice intervention.
In addition, the team have recovered 292 stolen vehicles with an approximate value of £5.41 million.
These figures speak for themselves and the officers are a credit to the Metropolitan Police. But we cannot achieve great things without the community coming forward with information about suspected crime taking place. I would therefore urge you to speak to an officer, report online https://bit.ly/3EcO9t2 or call 101(999 in an emergency) to report suspicious behaviour.”
