Havering has a proportion of 28.3% employee jobs earning below the Living Wage, whilst 78% of low-paid workers nationally say cost-of-living crisis is the worst financial period they’ve ever faced.

The cost of living crisis is making its impact on many across London and the country nationally. A recent poll has found that 28% of those working across Havering are earning below the living wage.

·         78% of workers paid below the real Living Wage (3.7m workers nationally) say the cost-of-living crisis is the worst financial period they have ever faced. 

·         Over half (56%) of low-paid workers (2.7m workers nationally) report using foodbanks over the last 12 months.

Those living in London are amongst those hit the hardest by low pay and the cost of living crisis, yet nine of the 25 Local Authorities with the highest levels of below Living Wage pay are in London. ASHE data shows Havering has a proportion of 28.3% employee jobs earning below the Living Wage – that’s 17,000 positions.
