A series of special activity days held at Brittons Academy in South Hornchurch has been run by East Area Safer Schools Officers. The children, some of whom are junior police cadets, are all aged between 10-13 years old. They have been participating in a variety of events such as orienteering and leadership learning skills.

Yesterday they had the opportunity to meet officers from the Tactical Support Group, the Dog Section, Traffic and the Marine section of the Met to learn how these different units work.

The children were able to chat with officers about their work and see for themselves just how varied the role of a Met police officer can be.

It was a fantastic community engagement event that has given children the ability to establish positive links with police officers.

Well done to everyone involved. This has been an amazing community project that has given children the ability to see how varied a police officer’s role is and to build great community relationships with officers.
