The Hornchurch and Upminster MP Julia Lopez has reached out to residents who have been impacted by the flat fire that took place in the early hours of this morning on Mavis Grove.

Over a hundred firefighters tackled the blaze that has destroyed large parts of the roof with sixty people evacuated as the billowing smoke was still seen this morning just before 6am.

Julia Lopez MP told the Havering Daily:

“I was very sorry to wake to the news of such a significant fire in Mavis Grove overnight. I am extremely grateful to all the firefighters who attended the scene and swiftly brought the blaze under control with only one resident taken to hospital – I wish them a swift recovery.

“I have made contact with both the local Fire Commander and Havering Council to offer any support that my team and I can provide to them and residents directly affected by this incident. I invite any resident affected by the fire that requires my assistance to contact my office so that my team and I can assist where we can.”
