Beam Park Councillor joins East Area police officers on ride-along.
Councillor Trevor McKeever Beam Park ward councillor joined east area police officers on Monday 11 July for a ride-along.
Councillor McKeever is no stranger to answering emergency 999 calls having spent his life working as a firefighter.
On Monday he had the opportunity to see the incredible work load our officers face daily and the endless difficulties they are deal with.
Councillor McKeever told the Havering Daily:
It was a great day for a ride out with PC Brad from Ilford Police station.I spent six hours with Brad and his team, on a multitude of calls, RTA first no persons injured just their pride.
“Second call to a stolen vehicle, owner following their own vehicle, we missed stopping the vehicle by seconds, driver decamped, vehicle recovered for owner, great result and third call urgent assistance required for officers. Three police cars and one van all respond and the suspect detained.
“Ten minutes before the next call came through, a domestic, on scene in minutes, both parties spoken to advice given.
“This is just a selection of the incidents that I attended in a six hour period, we did find time for a 5 minute brake.
“At all times PC Brad and his team showed the upmost professionalism, courtesy and respect to the members of the public even when they were being verbally or physically abused.
They were a credit to the Met Police.Thank you for engaging in what was an enlightening and interesting day.”
East Area has some fantastic officers who day an incredible amount of work on a daily basis despite very heavy work loads and many challenges.
