The Dagenham and Rainham MP hits out at the DWP following shocking recent research.

In a recent article published in a tabloid paper, new research by Deaths by Welfare concluded that the Department for Work and Pensions failed to fix the systematic flaws in the disability benefits system that potentially led to thousands of deaths.

The report showed that the failure to take action on the warnings issued on the disability system had now been linked to many deaths, including suicides of disabled people.

The report published on Monday 4 July revealed all the flaws that were subsequently ignored.

Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas has hit out at the Department for Work and Pensions and told the Havering Daily:

“This report exposes the shocking treatment by the Department of Work and Pensions of some of the most vulnerable and disabled people in Britain. The situation has shamefully been taking place for decades but has worsened with the so called welfare reforms brought about by the Tory / Lib Dem coalition from 2010. How we care for the most vulnerable is the hallmark of the decency of any society, this report points to a moral failing from the government.
