Hornchurch man imprisoned after being found with four knives and a hammer.
A Hornchurch male who was stopped in December 2020 and his car subsequently searched, has now been found guilty at court and sentenced to 10 months imprisonment.
On 18th December 2020, Romaine McKoy, age 30 parked in a car on the road that leads to Parsloes Park, Dagenham at half past midnight.
Officers stopped and spoke with the man and were not happy with his explanation for being there. Grounds for a search were given and the following items were found within the car:
Possession of offensive weapon x5 (namely 4 knives and one hammer)
Going equipped (namely gloves, knife and hammer)
Possession of cannabis
Theft
One (1) black lock knife
One (1) black lock knife
One (1) black lock knife
One (1) red handled knife approx. 15cm long
One (1) hammer
One (1) jar containing a small amount of herbal cannabis
He was arrested for possession of the offensive weapons and cannabis and subsequently charged with four counts of Possession of knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place and one count of Engaging in the business of a postal operator delayed / opened a postal packet / mailbag.
On 16th June Romaine Mckoy of Kareena Close, Hornchurch was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court for four counts of Possession of knife blade / sharp pointed article in a public place, one of which he pleaded not guilty and one count of Engaging in the business of a postal operator delayed / opened a postal packet / mailbag, which he pleaded guilty.
Romaine was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment and to pay victim surcharge of £156.00.
