Hornchurch and Upminster MP marks Justice Together Week.

Julia Lopez MP marked Justice Together Week by joining a stall with Havering Council’s Community Safety Team and the Gooshays ward Safer Neighbourhood Team on Farnham Road, Harold Hill. 

At the event local residents were issued advice on how they can help protect themselves against crime and were provided with free personal safety devices such as personal alarms, lights and property marker kits to help recover items if stolen.

Commenting on the event, Julia said:

“It was great to see so many residents making the most of the advice and resources made available by local community safety and police teams. I was invited to join Justice Together Week by the Met to help highlight how the criminal justice system works and demonstrate how each one of us has a role to play in keeping streets safe. The police and council have been visiting housing blocks to secure doorways and speak to residents about vigilance and the need to report crime when it happens, so they get an accurate picture of what is going on.

“It was also very helpful for me and my team to catch up with local ward officers Sergeant Richard Ruane and PC Lee George to hear their local initiatives and the operation in Elm Park this week to crack down on anti-social behaviour. I was particularly glad to hear of their joint efforts with the Council to tackle that ASB alongside drug offences as I know how concerned residents are about street crime.”
