Frankie Walker-Labour candidate Heaton ward.
The Havering Daily is running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for the local elections on May 5.
Today we meet Frankie Walker, a Labour candidate for Heaton ward in Harold Hill.
I live on the Briar Road Estate here in the Heaton Ward. I am passionate about ensuring that residents get the support they need. I am pleased to be involved in our local community support group. I am also a supporter of the Harold Hill Wombles.
At sixteen, I was elected as a Member of Youth Parliament for Havering representing our community nationally. I was proud to champion the voices of young people in our area to bring about positive change. I now work as Policy and Public Affairs Officer for a charity supporting cancer patients and their families.
I understand the concerns in our community. In the Heaton Ward, we have the highest child poverty rate in the borough. The increase in the cost of living will have a detrimental impact on residents and their families. Crime, improving housing, education, roads, and council services are issues that I will work tirelessly on. I will scrutinise and hold the Council to account to ensure that services are adequately delivered and the best decisions are made for residents.
It is time we have a Council that meets the needs of residents and puts them first and not as an afterthought. I will speak up for all residents as a councillor at the Town Hall with passion and concern our community deserves.
