When Linda Sullivan, 73, affectionately nicknamed ‘Maisie’ by her husband Howard Sullivan, 79, as she reminded him of a character from The Perishers cartoon, died at Queen’s Hospital in January 2021, her family wanted to do something positive in her memory.

That was brought to fruition when 120 ‘Masie’s Clocks’ were delivered to wards King George and Queen’s hospitals. The family decided on these special clocks, some of which display the date and others which include a day and night display, because when in hospital, Maisie would often call them in the early hours, not realising what time of day it was because her ward did not have windows.

Her family raised over £10,000 in her memory after setting up a JustGiving page, with match funding from pharmaceutical company DH Industries Ltd.

Daughter-in-law Claire Sullivan said: “Maisie was a fun, kind and loving woman whose vibrancy for life brought happiness to those around her.”

Arlene Villarante, staff nurse on Harvest B ward, said: “The installation of Maisie’s Clocks is a wonderful way to remind us of how precious time is, especially to our elderly patients. This will make a positive difference for all our patients.”
