Pippa’s Army rescue missing Ashley the cat who travelled from Wales to Essex.
Pippa’s Army the local animal charity, have been praised once again following an incredible rescue that saw a beautiful Siamese cat travel from North Wales to Essex! We all know locally the incredible work Pippa’s Army volunteers undertake each day to rescue and home animals, but this rescue is definitely one to remember.
On Good Friday April 15, Ashley the cat escaped from a bathroom window in Glan Conwy, a beautiful village in North Wales. Ashley is a two year old Siamese, who is an indoor cat and not used to the outside world. Her owner Daniel told the Havering Daily:
“We had left the bathroom window open and Ashley got stuck in the bathroom by accident, so we believe she jumped out.
“She was missing for just over a week. When we noticed she was missing we launched a full scale search across our village. We live in a small village so everyone was out looking for her.”
Posters were displayed across the village and every local was on the hunt for missing Ashley.
“After a week, myself and my wife feared for the worse. We were heartbroken and devastated,” continued Daniel.
Then a miracle struck.
“We received a phone call from Karen from Pippa’s Army to say that she had found Ashley in a garage 279 miles away from her home! Someone had found her and contacted Pippa’s Army to come and collect her. She was scanned and Karen contacted us to say she had found Ashley in Tilbury.”
The tears did not stop flowing for Daniel and his wife who were overjoyed to know that they would have their Ashley back.
“When my wife received the phonecall from Karen, she literally burst into tears. It had been a worrying, sleepless week but now she is home.”
Daniel then under took a 590 mile round trip to bring Ashley home where she belongs. However, she is now home with some scratches and a bit under the weather after her ordeal.
Daniel is still unsure how Ashley was found in Tilbury hundreds of miles away from her home.
“I don’t know how she got to Essex. We live in a beautiful village that has lots of tourists so it is possible that she may have jumped into the back of somebody’s car and landed up in Tilbury.”
Having Ashley back home is the best news ever. Huge thanks to Pippa’s Army who do an amazing job daily across Havering and Essex and are total heroes.
