A Harold Hill bereaved mum and an Essex bereaved mum have joined forces to stop the knife crime battle that is blighting our streets.

Peguy Kato and Julie Taylor have both lost a loved one to knife crime. Peguy from Harold Hill lost her son Champion who was fatally stabbed in Newham in 2013. Julie Taylor lost her grandson Liam ‘Fish’ Taylor to knife crime in Essex in 2019. Now, both mums have joined forces to do everything they can to stop the horrors of knife crime that blight our streets everyday.

On Saturday 9 April Peguy hosted a parent youth debate at Stratford Youth Zone to encourage and promote positive communications between youths and their parents. She told the Havering Daily:

“It is so important to have good communication between parents and their children. Our youth are growing up in very challenging times and often parents struggle to understand the difficulties they face being teenagers today. It is so important that they can talk to their parents and express what they are going through.”

Peguy has really dedicated her life to battling the horrors of knife crime and doing everything she can to support families through this nightmare.

Julie Taylor attended the parent youth debate and was able to donate a bleed kit to the youth zone. Julie, like Peguy has spent her time fighting the horrors of knife crime and handing out as many bleed kits as she can not only across Essex where she lives but also across London and the rest of the country.

Julie told the Havering Daily: “These bleed kits have been donated by the Daniel Baird Foundation, thanks to Lynne Baird. They really are life saving tools and fully approved by the London Ambulance Service. Having equipment like this on site could save a life. We need as many of them as possible across public areas, in the hope that they are never needed.”

Both mums spend everyday supporting other families and doing everything they can to promote anti knife crime campaigns. Not a day goes by that both don’t miss their son and grandson and feel that devastating heartbreak that comes from losing a loved one.

“The only way to fight this is to stand together as a community and make a difference, no politician wants to listen to us, so we must stand as a community and all work together to fight this,” finishes Julie.

Peguy and Julie are two amazing and brave ladies who are real community heroes.
