A history lesson in the form of party guaranteed to have you dancing throughout the evening but with a very important lesson.

This Saturday 16th of April sees a fantastic performance hit the Queen’s theatre stage. ‘Rush- a joyous Jamaican Journey’ is the story of the Windrush generation and the incredible contribution they have made on our society.

Script writer and narrator John Summit has been on the road for two years with this fantastic show and guarantees us an amazing night.

“It is a history lesson in the form of a party,’ tells us John. “It will definitely have you up off your seat and dancing as we have an eleven piece band, a DJ and some very talented musicians playing classics from Bob Marley, Desmond Decker and many others.

The show is also an important history lesson looking at the contribution the Windrush generation have made and our shared history.

“I defy anyone who comes not dance,” adds John who really is not only a very funny man and well known as a stand up comedian, but also an educated man who is keen to highlight the shared history of our country.

“It is a very positive night that will not only have you up off your seat but also laughing a lot,” continues John. And let’s face it, with all the difficulties currently facing people, a laugh is much needed.

The show has been on the road for two years and has had nothing but praise.

Saturday will be an evening where we can not only appreciate and respect the impact made by a whole generation but also celebrate in style our country’s shared history.

‘Come and party whilst you can and before energy prices hit us even harder,” finishes John.

The Windrush generation arrived at Tilbury docks in June 1948 following an urgent call for help from England due to the country’s shortage of workers.
