Amazing Collier Row twins earn every Beaver Scout badge.
Twins Grace and George West from 3rd Collier Row Scout Group have done amazingly well and have earned every Beaver Scout badge. These achievements run from Animal Friend to Camp Craft, Cook to Gardener and Health and Fitness to Space.
Grace said:
“I like being in Beavers as I like playing games and at Beavers, we always have fun. My favourite badge to do was the animal friend badge because I am scared of dogs but doing this has made me be braver with my nanny’s dogs.” George said, “Beavers is always a fun place to be. When we did our zoom meetings in lockdown it was hard, but I liked that we were still able to have fun and earn our badges. My mummy helped me a lot.”
Adult volunteer, Laura Kirk said:
“The children joined Beavers just before lockdown started in March 2020 so to earn all of the badges has been a massive achievement. As a volunteer, it’s been an absolute pleasure to see the boys and girls aged 6 to 8 working towards badges. Some of the badges can be difficult and when the children achieve them, I enjoy seeing the smile on their face.”
Their mum, Jo said:
“Beavers has been so good for Grace and George. Not only do they get to experience a variety of things that they would never normally do (for example bouldering or science experiments), it also enables them to work on things they enjoy. Grace loves to read so the book reader badge was brilliant for her. Having the twins complete all their badges is amazing but knowing they did them whilst we went through a lockdown makes me very proud of them indeed. Their hard work along with the hard work and guidance of their leaders paid off.”
The Group provides great opportunities for boys and girls in Beavers (ages 6 to 8), Cubs (ages 8 to 10) and Scouts (ages 10 to 14). For further information about joining Scouting, including volunteering, please contact www.scouts.org.uk/join
