Flash floods struck parts of east London yesterday and a mini tornado hit a part of Romford in the afternoon.

The London Fire Brigade received over 600 hundred calls to flooding incidents including flooding to properties and roads. Police officers were supporting firefighters and helping with road closures and severe flooding in tunnels.

Retail outlets across east London were also victims of the rain as B&M in Dagenham became flooded with shoppers leaving their baskets and trolleys behind and exiting the store rapidly.

The London Fire Brigade advised people to not drive or walk through flood water.

Numerous tube stations were closed and parts of the Docklands Light Railway were also affected by the flooding.
