A Merchant Navy Day was held in Elm Park on Sunday 6th of September outside of St Nicholas’ Church. A special service was held at the church by the Rev Amanda, Father Tom and Father David.

The service was attended by nearly 100 people and streamlined to a Merchant Navy ship in Madeira. The Rev Amanda read out a tribute poem by David Partridge.

There were 6 standard bearers including Elm Park RBL, Chingford, Ilford and Manor Park. Merchant Navy Ensign and Union Flag.

Councillor Stephanie Nunn told the Havering Daily: “We remembered all those who served in conflicts worldwide and those who are serving today. Always we hope for peace.”
