Rainham Leisure Centre will host a free family fun day on Saturday, June 29, to celebrate its first birthday.

The event, running from 10am to 4pm, promises a day filled with activities for all ages.

Managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Havering Council, Rainham Leisure Centre opened its state-of-the-art ‘dryside’ facilities on July 1, 2023, followed by the unveiling of the ‘wetside’ facilities on July 28, 2023, by Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington.

During the free event, visitors can look forward to a range of complimentary activities, including free lane and family swimming sessions, free gym access andgym challenges, along with a variety of free group exercise classes, such as yoga, zumba and spin classes. Face painting will also be available for children.

Tom Fletcher, Area Contract Manager for Everyone Active, said:  “It’s been a hugely successful year, with so many residents embracing an active and healthy lifestyle at Rainham Leisure Centre.

“Health and physical activity are crucial for overall wellbeing, and it’s fantastic to witness the positive impact our facilities have had on the community. This open day is an excellent opportunity for those who haven’t visited us yet to experience our facilities and explore new activities they may have never tried before. It’s going to be a day filled with excitement, fun and fitness for the entire family.”

Although construction was initially delayed by COVID-19, construction on Rainham Leisure Centre started in January 2022. Since opening in July 2023, the popular facility has welcomed more than 360,000 visitors.

The leisure centre offers a 72-station fitness suite, a dedicated dance and spin studio, and a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool catering to fitness enthusiasts, casual swimmers, and swimming lessons which currently serve more than 800 children in the community.

Since opening its doors, Rainham Leisure Centre has established itself as a hub for health and wellness within the local community. With 2,600 active fitness members, the centre’s facilities have become a go-to destination for locals seeking to embrace an active and balanced lifestyle.

In addition, its GP referral programme and weight loss management initiatives have garnered significant participation, reflecting the growing awareness and commitment to proactive healthcare and sustainable lifestyle changes.
