Havering’s finest junior chef, nine year old Joshua Puncheon from Harold Wood today teaches us how to make some fun lollipops.
Fun Lollipops
Ingredients
500gr Sugar
1 tsp Cream of tartar
200ml hot water
Red food colouring (optional)
Food flavouring (optional)
Lolly sticks. Sprinklers (optional)
Thermometer.
Step 1
In a large pan add the sugar.
Step 2
Add the cream of tartar.
Step 3
Add the hot water.
Step 4
Add the flavouring If using.
Step 5
Cook on a medium heat.
Step 6
When the sugar is fully dissolved, put on a higher heat.
Step 7
Place your thermometer inside.
Step 8
Add food colouring if using.
Step 9
Wait until the thermometer reaches the hard crack point
Step 10
Remove the thermometer and switch off the heat.
Step 11
Carefully spoon the mixture onto baking paper.
Step 12
Place the lollipop stick.
Step 13
Add sprinkles if using.
Step 14
Work quickly before it sets.
Step 15
Leave it to set for about 20 minutes.
